The energy switching device has an overhead operating console (7) provided with control switches (712) and at least one fuse board (3) coupled to a main energy distributor, with electronic protection switches (311) for each of the supplied electrical loads, each of which is controlled via a control unit (312) coupled to a control switch of the overhead console via an optical fibre cable (700). The operating console control switch allows a light signal from a light emitter (310) to be fed along the optical fibre cable for conversion at the opposite end into a control signal.
