A pneumatic tyre comprises a carcase of radial cords 2 and a tread reinforcement 4 formed by at least two plies 9, 11, 13 of parallel cords disposed with their cords all parallel to each other at the same acute angleαof from 10 to 20 degrees to the circumferential direction 14, and a further ply 10, 12 of transverse cords (i.e. cords parallel to the radial carcase cords 2) between each pair of adjacent plies 9, 11, 13, the reinforcement plies 9-13 each extending over the width of the tread. The plies 9, 11 and 13 may be rubberized with rubber of different hardness from that of plies 10, 12. |
