For extruding an automotive weather strip (1) which includes an elongate major portion (2) and an elongate lip portion (3), a main extruder (24,25 feeds material for the major portion (2); an auxiliary extruder (28) feeds material for the lip portion (3); a fixed shaping die (21) has an opening (22) from which the material from the main extruder (24,25) is extruded for formation of the major portion (2); a movable shaping die (22) has an opening (26) from which material from the auxiliary extruder (21) is extruded for formation of the lip portion (3). The die (22) is transversely movable relative to the fixed die (21). The movable die (22) is located in front of the fixed die (21) and spaced from it by a distance (L), e.g. 30 - 200 mm, allowing the major portion (2) to become stable in shape, but still hot and fluid, when the lip portion (3) is formed.
