摘要 A liquid crystalline medium is based on a mixture of polar compounds having positive dielectric anisotropy whereby at least one of the compounds contains a substituted cycloacetal linking group. A liquid crystalline medium (I) is based on a mixture of polar compounds having positive dielectric anisotropy whereby at least one of the compounds is of formula (1). R = H or up to 15C alkyl or alkenyl, optionally mono-substituted by CN or CF3 or substituted by halogen, and non-neighboring CH2 groups are optionally replaced by -O-, -S-, 1,3-cyclobutanediyl, -C?=C-, -CO-, -CO-O- or -O-CO- or -O-CO-O-; L<1>, L<2> = H or F; A = formula (1a) or (1b); Y = F, Cl or up to 7C halogenated alkyl, halogenated alkenyl, halogenated alkylalkoxy or halogenated alkenyloxy. An INDEPENDENT is included for an electro-optical liquid crystal display containing liquid crystalline medium (I).
