The invention discloses a new polypeptide- prostate specific membrane antigen 16, the polynucleotide encoding said polypeptide, and a process for producing the polypeptide by recombinant DNA technology. It also discloses methods of applying the polypeptide for the treatment of various diseases, such as prostate cancer, prostate benign tumor, prostate proliferation, prostatitis, metastatic prostate cancer. This invention also discloses antagonist against said polypeptide and thereof therapy uses. In addition, it refers to the use of said polynucleotide encoding this new prostate specific membrane antigen 16.
