APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INDICATING POSITION OF HOLE CUP IN GOLF COURSE

PURPOSE: An apparatus for indicating a position of a hole cup in a golf course and method therefor is provided to know a detailed distance and direction to the hole cup by displaying a current position of a golfer using GPS(Global Positioning System) information, DGPS(Differential GPS) information, and a map data of the golf course, calculating a distance and a direction angle to the hole cup, and indicating the calculated distance and direction angle. CONSTITUTION: A GPS receiving unit(31) receives a GPS data from a GPS satellite(10). A DGPS receiving unit(32) receives a DGPS data for position correction from a certain reference station(20). A map memory(33) records a map data by a golf course of each hole. A geomagnetic sensor(34) senses an azimuth. A microprocessor(35) discriminates a corrected current position of a terminal using a position information data received to the GPS receiving unit(31) and the DGPS receiving unit(32), and calculates a distance and an azimuth to the hole cup of a green using the azimuth angle and the map data of the golf course. A display unit(36) displays the position of the terminal and the distance and the direction to the hole cup on a map according to an output signal of the microprocessor(35). A key input unit(37) selects a GPS position measurement instruction and the map data of a specific hole displayed on the display unit(36), or indicates instructions such as a portion expansion and reduction of displayed information.
