PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic head for vertical magnetic recording, capable of suppressing noise caused by a soft magnetic layer, and rectifying reduction in efficiency, and a magnetic storing/reproducing device using the same. CONSTITUTION: An angle made by a line connecting the center of the main magnetic pole of a recording head with the center of a return yoke and a line connecting the opposing end parts of the main magnetic pole and the return yoke with each other is set to &thgr;1, an angle made by the line connecting the center of the main magnetic pole of the recording head with the center of the return yoke and a line connecting the center of the main magnetic pole of a reproducing head with the center of the return yoke is set to &thgr;2, and the relation between these angles is set such that &thgr;2>&thgr;1. Thus the direction of magnetic flux flowing through a medium during recording and reproducing will not overlap that of a magnetic flux that flows during recording and, therefore, the problems of Barkhausen noise, generated when the direction of both magnetic fluxes overlap, reduction in reproduction efficiency, and the like are solved.
