PURPOSE: A gas-liquid separator for refrigerator compressor is provided to minimize noise caused due to the reverse flow of refrigerant by preventing liquid refrigerant from flowing in reverse direction toward the evaporator during operation stoppage of the compressor. CONSTITUTION: A gas-liquid separator(10) comprises a case(20) having an internal space(22) for storage of liquid refrigerant(L); a suction pipe(25) connected to the upper portion of the internal space of the case of the separator and communicated to the evaporator side; and a discharge pipe(27) connected to the lower portion of the internal space of the case of the separator and communicated to a compressor(30) side. The gas-liquid separator is disposed in the vicinity of a suction portion(32) of the compressor. The discharge pipe is extended to a predetermined height within the internal space of the case of the separator, and has a separation hole(28) for separating refrigerant oil of the compressor. Thus, it is possible to prevent the liquid refrigerant from flowing in reverse direction from the internal space toward the evaporator during operation stoppage of the compressor. Since the internal space of the case of the separator is arranged to be adjacent to the suction portion of the compressor, the liquid refrigerant being sucked into the compressor is vaporized by the high temperature of the compressor and transferred to the compression chamber.
