PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for removing the excessive material of a golf ball with laser. CONSTITUTION: In this method and device 19 for treating golf ball with laser, a laser 32 is arranged against a rotating golf ball 20 in order to remove the excessive material 22 and also to impart an aerodynamic pattern to a specified area of the golf ball including a separation line 28 as occasion demands. The laser 32 preferably consists of a carbon dioxide laser. A laser beam 38 can be made out of focus to form dimples on the separation line of the golf ball.
