PURPOSE: A method for measuring the shape of a road surface and its method are provided to exactly calculate the absolute shape of the road surface by measuring the relative displacement between a vehicle and the road surface and measuring the vibration amount of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A measuring time is initialized(S10). A signal of a relative distance between a vehicle and a road surface, a signal of an instant acceleration, a behavior signal and a speed signal of the vehicle are read(S20, S30, S40, S50). A calculated absolute shape value of the road surface is compensated with the read behavior signal. The measuring time is increased and a reference time is checked. The former processes are repeated until the reference time. The absolute shape value of the road surface is compared with a reference range by calculating a delay time between each detector. Errors are compensated with a statistic method when the absolute shape value of the road surface is not existed within the reference range. The shape of the road surface is decided by adding the absolute shape value of the road surface to every time. Thereby, the absolute shape of the road surface is calculated exactly.
