PURPOSE: A system for upgrading a software through a communication network and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to receive a software for version-up by storing software resources of the latest version in an upgrade exclusive server and by connecting to the server. CONSTITUTION: A user who wishes to upgrade the latest software connects to an upgrading server being connected to a communication network through a web browser(S110). The server reads information of hardware and software resources from a user computer and records the information in a member information table(S120). The server detects whether the user computer is a finished product or an assembled product by searching a hardware table(S130). If the user computer is an assembled product, a characters of "customize" and computer hardware resources are displayed(S140). If the user computer is a finished product, a manufacturing company and a model name are displayed(S150). The latest software list being stored in the server is displayed on a server resources information window of a web page(S160). It is searched whether a software is to be upgraded from a software table or not(S170). If a software is to be upgraded or not, a software list to be updated is displayed on the user computer(S180). If a software to be upgraded is not existed, a new software list is displayed on the user computer(S190). In addition, a download software list is displayed(S200) and the download process is performed(S220).
