A method of producing a battery cell is described wherein the manufacturing process commences with an Li2-yMn2O4 or Li2-yMn2-xMxO4 cathode wherein y≤0.1 and M = Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ti, V or Zn. An electrolyte and anode are added to the cathode and the battery is charged to convert the anode from Anx to A: xLi3N where in A is Sn, Zn, Si, Lb, Sb, Bi, or Cd. |
