PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas shield arc welding method by which the formation of a weld bead at a high speed is possible, the melting of a base metal is properly performed and a good weld bead appearance can be obtained without causing the defect in the lack of penetration, and droplet trans ferrtability is improved. SOLUTION: In this gas shield arc welding method, as a means for increasing the removal energy of the tip of an electrode wire 2, a welding torch 1 at least having a power feeding chip 3 and an insulating guide 4 and provided in a shield gas G based on an I2R method is used, and as an electrode wire 2, the one having a componential composition containing, by weight, 0.03 to 0.15% C, 0.30 to 1.20% Si, 0.60 to 1.60% Mn, 0.003 to 0.025% P, 0.001 to 0.025% S and 0.03 to 0.30% Ti, and the balance Fe with impurities is used, and, as the shield gas G, a gaseous mixture obtained by adding Co2 of <=15% or, Co2 of <=10% and O2 of <=5% to an inert gas of Ar or Ar+He is used.
