PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the service life of a steam iron and to prevent the blocking of an evaporation chamber and an evaporation flow passage of the steam iron, by regularly discharging scale in a powder shape invisible by a user. SOLUTION: This steam iron has a water circulation passage, and stores, in at least one partitioned chamber, a scale adhesion inhibitor formed by netting and hardening a water vapor permeable organic silica based silicone elastomer containing a hydrophilic active material and a polyorganosilosxane composition. The steam iron has a grid 203 that is made of a metal different from that of a metallic heater 100 and passes steam flow near an evaporation region of the evaporation chamber 2 formed in the metallic heater 100.
