PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which ink adhering to a recording sheet can be dried quickly. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer comprises a print head 18 performing print operation by applying liquid ink to a recording sheet 13, a system for carrying the recording sheet 13 having an inversion carrying section 12 executing print operation while facing the first side of the recording sheet 13 toward the print head 18 and then executing print operation while facing the second side of the recording sheet 13 toward the print head 18, an air intake hole 20 through which air 27 can be introduced externally, an exhaust hole 21 through which the air 27 introduced from the air intake hole 20 can be exhausted, and a fan 22 for passing the air 27, introduced from the air intake hole 20 into the printer before print operation is started by means of the print head 18, through the carriage inverting section 12 and then exhausting the air from the exhaust hole 21.
