A stopper for a non-refillable container comprises a tubular member insertable into the neck 12 of the container, its recess being divided into two channels 6 and 7 by a partition 8, each channel having a valve member 9 and 10 respectively, at its base which by means of gravity closes the channel when the container stands upright and uncovers it when the container is in a pouring position, means in each channel for limiting the displacement of the valve member, and means overlying the valve members for preventing the members being tampered with but allowing the free flow of the contents from the container. The tubular member comprises a tubular body 1 connected by a flange 3 to a cylindrical member 2 which has a bottom 2a formed with apertures 4 and 5 on which seat ball valves 9 and 10. A cross wall 11 partially covering the circular crosssection of the casing 2 prevents the balls escaping when the container is inverted and together with the flange 3 forms a baffle to prevent insertion of a tool into the device to dislodge the balls. Bars 13 restrict lateral movement of the balls. A compressible sleeve 14 surrounds the tubular body 1 being spaced therefrom at its upper end to accommodate a screw cap 16 covered by a tearable capsule 17 which is surrounded by a jacket 15. In another embodiment the tubular member is adapted for direct insertion into the neck of a bottle and has at its upper end an outer flange for engaging the bottle neck, its lower end being open to receive a plastics moulded insert member comprising a circular base with two apertures for seating ball valves, a diametric partition wall extending upwards from the base and three vertically- spaced baffle elements, the base being forcibly engaged in a groove in the lower end of the tubular member.</p> |
