PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling filter cloth type waste liquid treating device which continuously filters and thickens sludge by endless filter cloth circling and traveling on a specified orbit and is capable of decreasing the amount of a flocculating agent to be added by improving the thickening function of the sludge by filter cloth filtration. SOLUTION: The waste liquid treating device 21 is constituted by disposing a waste liquid chamber 23 having a waste liquid supply port 24 and a waste thickened liquid discharge port 25 and a filtrate chamber 26 having a filtrate discharge port 27 adjacently to each other and is provided with a means 22 for applying a fiber paste to the surface of the traveling filter cloth on the upper side of the waste liquid level of the waste liquid chamber 23. The coating application means 22 comprises a fiber paste tank 34, a fiber paste supplying pipe 43, a fiber paste pan 44 and a coating application roll 35a. Since the fiber paste is uniformly applied to the surface of the traveling filter cloth 30 by the coating application roll 35a, the leakage of the solids of the waste liquid to the traveling filter cloth 30 may be prevented. As a result, the sludge in the waste liquid chamber 23 is thickened.
