CYLINDRICAL HEAD BORING TOOL

A cylindrical head boring tool such as a Forstner drilling tool has a main cutting edge with a centering point. The main cutting edge extends diametric ally across the entire circular cross-section of the boring head and has cut out surface s and chip channels adjacent the main cutting edge. The chip channels open through the outer periphery and extend obliquely through the boring head. Each end of the main cutting edge is adjacent a preliminary cutting edge coinciding with the circumferenc e of the boring head to guide the boring tool. The preliminary cutting edge reaches t o the edge of the respective other chip channel and forms the peripheral edge of an essent ially cylindrically curved wall of the boring head. The otherwise smooth curved wa ll is interrupted by radial throats.
