PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head and a method for manufacturing it in which occurrence of a rejectable product or lowering of workability can be prevented by preventing the reinforcing plate of a head case from bending. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording head comprises a channel unit 1 having an nozzle array of a plurality of nozzle openings 8 and pressure chambers 7 communicating with respective nozzle openings 8, a piezoelectric oscillator 6 for varying pressure in each pressure chamber 7, and a head case 2 for holding the channel unit 1. Since a reinforcing plate 20 is incorporated in the wall part 12 of the head case 2 extending in the direction of nozzle array and a slit 21 exposing the reinforcing plate 20 at the rear surface thereof is made in the wall part 12 incorporating the reinforcing plate 20 at a central part in the direction of nozzle array, the reinforcing plate 20 is held when the slit is made and prevented from bending at the time of molding the head case 2. Furthermore, occurrence of a rejectable product or lowering of workability can be prevented since the reinforcing plate 20 is not exposed to the surface of the wall part 12 and the size of a recording head is not increased.
