PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid derivative and a reticular polymer therefrom and to provide a method for producing these new compounds. SOLUTION: The cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid derivative can easily be obtained by irradiating o-acetylferulic acid with a light, and the reticular polymer capable of being applied as a photosensitive material and a reactive intermediate can be obtained by deacetylating the derivative and polymerizing.
