PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily producing a titanium phthalocyanine compound having excellent photoconductivity without passing through a complex treatment such as an acid paste method. SOLUTION: This method for producing a titanium phthalocyanine compound comprises catalytically treating a titanium phthalocyanine compound with a 1,3-diol compound of structural formula [1] (R1 to R6 are each hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group) to give a second titanium phthalocyanine compound and applying a mechanical force to the second titanium phthalocyanine compound to give a third titanium phthalocyanine compound.
