A stopper or cap 1, Fig. 1, with a pouring spout 12 and vent hole 8 is provided with a flexible tongue 9 carrying a plug or cover for closing the spout and a plug 10 for closing the vent 8. The resilience of the tongue 9 permits the plug 8 to rise to vent any pressure building up in the container. The cap, e.g. of polythene, may be internally screw-threaded or formed with an internal bead engaging an external bead on the bottle neck. Alternatively, the closure may be formed as an externally threaded stopper with the spout and vent holes entering therethrough to the upper surface. In Fig. 4, the tongue 29 has a hood 31 closing the spout 33 and an extension 35 fastening over a projection 40 to prevent accidental opening of the spout.</p> |
