PURPOSE: A method for initializing a BTS(Base Transceiver Subsystem) of a mobile communication system is provided to considerably decrease a position information calculation time by not repeatedly performing a position information calculation process whenever initializing the BTS. CONSTITUTION: Position information of a BTS is initially set(S1), and position information of a current BTS is calculated(S2). It is confirmed whether calculated position information is changed to initial position information(S3). If calculated position information is changed to initial position information, a TFU(Time and Frequency Unit) transmits calculated position information to a BCP(BTS Control Processor)(S4). The BCP transmits received position information to store position information in a database of a BSM(Base Station Manager)(S5). The TFU generates a TOD(Time of Day), an 1PPS, and 10MHz clocks as a system clock, an even second clock, and 10MHz clocks and outputs the generated system clock, even second clock, and 10MHz clocks to a DU(Digital Unit) to perform the initialization of the BTS(S6). It is judged whether the TFU requests the input of position information to the BCP(S7). If the TFU requests the input of position information to the BCP, the BCP transmits position information of the BTS stored in the database of the BSM(S8) for performing the initialization of the BTS through a clock generation operation of the TFU so that the BTS performs a normal operation(S8).
