PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for recording regional information of an optical disc driving apparatus is provided to record and store regional information without a separate external flash ROM. CONSTITUTION: It is received regional information which is requested to be recorded. A partial program of storage means in which a firmware is stored is copied on an external memory. By virtue of performance of the copied program, the received information is stored in the storage means by being separated in region from the firmware. Operation of the disc is performed based on a value of the regional information in the disc and a current regional information. The storage means is a flash ROM which is embedded in a microcomputer. Data contents of the external memory is copied on another external memory. The another external memory is a memory which is used as a data buffering by decoding means which decodes data played from the disc.
