PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient packing apparatus wherewith matters to be packed can be conveyed smoothly at high speed and the direction of the matters to be packed can be changed properly without changing abruptly the locus of conveyance. SOLUTION: A supply-side conveyance part 3 which successively conveys a plurality of matters 2 to be packed, a direction chaging device 4 which changes the direction of the matters 2 to be packed conveyed by the supply-side conveyance part 3, and an accumulating part 6 which accumulates the matters 2 to be packed, are provided. The direction changing device 4 is arranged at the rear end of the supply-side conveyance part 3, and has a rotatory frame 12 formed in a cross comprising four support arms 18 and a rotation driving means 13 which rotates and moves the rotatory frame 12 in the specified direction of rotation at every 90 deg.. Each of the support arms 18 is set so as to make the matter 2 to be packed stop respectively at a position heading for the direction along a locus A drawn by the supply-side conveyance part 3, and a position heading for the direction intersecting at a right angle the locus A.
