PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycarbonate resin by which the molecular weight and composition according to targets are achieved and electrophotographic characteristics when utilized for an electrophotographic photoreceptor are good by using triphosgene known as a homolog of phosgene. SOLUTION: The triphosgene in an amount of >=0.5 and <=0.8 mol based on 1 mol of a diol derivative is used and an alkali compound in an amount of >=7 and <=15 mol based on 1 mol of the diol derivative is used in the method for producing the polycarbonate resin by carrying out an interfacial polymerization of the diol derivative and the triphosgene under alkaline conditions. Furthermore, triethylamine is used as a catalyst and the amount thereof added is >=0.2 and <1 mol% based on the diol derivative. The polymerization time is >=90 min and <=24 h.
