PURPOSE: To solve such problems on conventional sanitary napkin that, leakproof side walls are irregularly bent and having tendency to easily forma spacings between themselves and the skin and the side leakage of menstrual blood is easily occurs. CONSTITUTION: Both sides in the transverse direction of the sanitary napkin are provided with leakproof side walls 5. The side walls 5 are formed by two- folding side wall sheets 6 at their free ends 5c. The side wall sheets 6 are provided with regions of high bending rigidity which have rugged wrinkles 7 and belt-like regions 8 which exist in the intermediate parts between base ends 5b and the free ends 5c and do not have the rugged wrinkles 7. The boundary parts between the rugged wrinkles 7 and the belt-like regions 8a are rigid boundary parts 11. The segments having the rugged wrinkles 7 are made easily bendable with the segments of the bet-like regions 8a as boundaries without the extreme deformation of these segments. The easy tight contact of the leakproof side walls 5 and the skin is thus achieved.
