PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed cell-foamed polyolefin having a shape recovery property for recovering the shape of the polymer into a prescribed shape only by heating, its production method, a sealing material using it, and its sealing method. SOLUTION: In the foamed polyolefin having the shape recovery property retarded at least in the thickness direction, when it is preserved at a temperature T1 ( deg.C) between 40 deg.C and the melting point of the polymer for at least one hour under the atmospheric pressure, the thickness after the preservation is 1.5 times the thickness before the preservation or below, and the shape recovery ratio is below 40%, and when it is heated at a temperature T2 ( deg.C) between 60 deg.C and the melting point of the polymer for at least one hour under the atmospheric pressure, the thickness after the heating is at least 2.0 times the thickness before the heating, and the shape recovery ratio is at least 40%.
