PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for predicting a molding fault of a resin molding machine capable of predicting an amount of occurrence of faults by calculating a change in the amount of factors causing the faults which can not be directly measured. SOLUTION: The method for predicting the molding fault of the resin molding machine comprises the steps of detecting state data in response to an operating state of the machine by temperature sensors 20, 22 and 24 and pressure sensors 21, 23 and 25, calculating the change of the amount of carbonized resin from the change of the state data with time based on a relation between the occurring amount of the carbonized resin as the factor of the fault and the state data, and predicting the amount of occurrence of the faults in the machine.
