PURPOSE: A searchlight is provided to prevent wire from being entangled and from being broken by turning a beam light, and to control irradiation with a simple up-and-down driving unit. CONSTITUTION: A beam light(2) is fixed in the upper part of a body, and turned around a fixing shaft(43) between supporting pieces(41,42) of a fixing frame(40). The beam light is covered with a transparent light cover(3), and driven up and down, and right and left. A right and left driving motor(64) having a driving pulley(64A) is formed in the lower part of the body, and a driven pulley(65) is connected to the driving pulley by a belt(66). A motor gear(67) is connected to the driven pulley by a link, and engaged with a driving gear(63) on a driving shaft(61) of the beam light. A rotating plate is protruded outward at the side of the motor gear, and plural light through holes are arranged around the rotating plate. A position detecting part(7) has a light detecting sensor consisting of a light emitting unit and a light receiving unit. The convenience is improved with detecting the rotational position of the beam light by the light detecting sensor.
