摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a laser light source comprising a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in array can be prevented from deteriorating by performing detection of synchronization or adjustment of the intensity of light while lighting only specified light emitting elements and unlighting other light emitting elements. SOLUTION: When a digital copy machine performs recording of an image by a printer section 14 based on image information of a document read out by a scanner section 13 or image information inputted externally, a control section 8 performs detection of synchronization and APC control processing. The APC operation processing is performed, as required, during image formation because the optical output from an LD array 6 is required to be stabilized. At the time of waiting, the control section 8 performs APC operation only for a specified channel in order to ensure a synchronization signal and interrupts output of an APC operation signal for other channels to stop lighting of the light emitting elements of these channels. Consequently, the lifetime of the LD array 6 can be prolonged while reducing the running cost.
