PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict or instruct the replacement period of time for a carrying roller based on a tendency to expand or decrease the diameter of the carrying roller by measuring the variation of the diameter of the carrying roller with a displacement sensor. SOLUTION: This wear detecting device contains a displacement measuring circuit 3 arranged on the opposite side of a carrying roller 2 whose one side comes in contact with the surface of a carrying passage 1 of paper; and a cumulative rotating measuring circuit 4 for detecting the rotation of the carrying roller 1 and measuring the cumulative rotation frequency.
