PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage drying method and drier with leakage of malodor prevented and to furnish a method for making the dried garbage into fertilizer to utilize it. SOLUTION: The garbage (2) is agitated, heated and dried in a treating tank (4), the steam (S) generated from the garbage by heating is condensed by radiating its heat, the steam is filtered and forcedly exhausted to make the pressure on the treating tank side negative, and the leakage of malodor is prevented. Meanwhile, different kinds of garbage are combined, heated and dried to form dry garbage, the dry garbage alone or mixed with tree chips, etc., is fermented, and the dried garbage is made into fertilizer.
