PURPOSE: An IP(Internet Protocol) network access network system using IP tunneling and a method for controlling the same are provided to enable the host of an external IP network to communicate with a host in a private IP network through IP tunneling by offering an IP network access network system using IP tunneling. CONSTITUTION: The first host(311) has a web client program(411) to acquire the inner IP address information of a private IP network and an application program layer(413) to execute communication with the second host(351) connected with the private IP network. Also the first host(311) contains a TCP/UDP layer(415) to execute TCP/UDP communication with a home gateway(330), an external IP address(417) to access an IP network for IP communication, and a layer to indicate an inner IP address in the private network. A MAC(Multimedia Access Controller)(421), connected with a MAC(423) in the home gateway(330), controls actual multimedia data transmission. The home gateway(330) is provided with a web server program layer(429) corresponding to the web client program(411) of the first host(311) and a TCP/UDP layer(427) to execute TCP/UDP communication with the second host(351). Also the home gateway(330) contains an outer address layer(425) to execute IP communication with the hosts(311,351) and a layer(431) to appoint the inner IP address of the second host(351). The home gateway(330), comprising MAC layers(423) respectively interfacing with the MAC layers(421,433) of the hosts(311,351), controls multimedia packet transmission.
