PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the workability of replacing lamps for exciting an optical photocatalyst to maintain an apparatus in an air purifier using the photocatalyst. SOLUTION: In the air purifier 1, a plurality of plate-like photocatalyst carriers 7 are arranged in a ventilating stream direction and a plurality of lamps 8 are arranged in the spacings 33 between the adjacent photocatalyst carriers 7. The spacings 33 are opened outside through an maintenance opening 14. The spacings 33 between the adjacent photocatalyst carriers 7 are enough wide to put a hand or forearm into them. Furthermore, distances L2 and L3 between a photocatalyst carrier and a lamp are set to a value within 10-30 mm, preferably within 10-20 mm. Thus, the lamp 8 can be firmly held by fingers and a light from the lamp 8 can be efficiently irradiated on the photocatalyst carrier 7. |
