摘要 The objective of virtual 3D sound technology is to convey to the listener an accurate impression of an acoustic environment. This is accomplished by conveying a realistic directional impression of sounds. Most of the successful techniques for 3D sound are based on the head related transfer function (HRTF). In this disclosure, we shall present a method that creates the desired impression using dipole and monopole pressure fields. The object is to recreate locally the pressure field an actual sound source would produce, in a neighbourhood of the listener's ears without using HRTFs.
