PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer having a peeling roller capable of correcting skew of an ink ribbon that occurs when the ink ribbon is wound after the printing. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer printer comprises the peeling roller 5 that peels the ink ribbon 4 from a recording medium 3 by winding the ink ribbon 4 around a winding reel (not shown in the figure) after the printing is executed by thermally transferring ink on the ink ribbon 4 on the recording medium. An elastic member 9 for elastically urging the ink ribbon 4 in a direction perpendicular to a winding direction (arrow C) of the ink ribbon 4 to the winding reel is provided to the peeling roller 5. As a result, even when the skew of the ink ribbon 4 occurs after the printing, the peeling roller 5 is elastically moved along the skew and after that, it returns on a neutral position so that the skew is corrected.
