PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase reference part machining device and a phase reference part machining method that can lower the initial cost and the running cost without complexity in the device itself. SOLUTION: Accessories of a shaft processing machine body 2, such as a controller 4, are used for the phase reference part machining device 1 for machining a phase reference plane 106 on a crankshaft 100. The phase reference part machining device 1 thus requires no individual accessories such as a controller to lower the initial cost. In contract with a combination machine wherein the phase reference part machining device 1 itself is incorporated in the shaft processing machine body 2, the phase reference part machining device 1 itself remains uncomplicated to keep a low running cost for maintenance and the like.
