PURPOSE: A device for shaping signals, especially speech signals is provided to realize a simple method of improving the quality of the received signal. CONSTITUTION: A device for shaping signals, especially speech signal is to shape signals, which occupy a certain frequency band and are attenuated at least in the lower portion of the band, especially speech signal. Further, the device for shaping signals, especially speech signal reproduces the lower portion of the frequency band by filtering and the filter to be used is determined, for example, based on the signals reproduced employing a vector quantizer selection method. The device for shaping signals, especially speech signal is applicable to the receiver of a telephone set transmission system that occupies a narrow frequency band between 300 Hz to 3,400 Hz and an audio device in which acoustic loss receives adverse effect by a high impedance loudspeaker, for example.
