PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic bearing device capable of performing optimum control according to a variation in the kind of a tool by altering control characteristics automatically in accordance with the changes in the barycentric position of a body of rotation and a natural frequency. SOLUTION: The magnetic bearing device is provided with a natural frequency component damping section 3 for damping the natural frequency component of the body of rotation according to a signal from a body-of-rotation position detecting sensor 1, a control section 4 for controlling the driving current of an electromagnet, a tool weight computing section 9 for measuring the weight of the tool at the end part of the body of rotation, a barycentric position computing section 11 for computing the barycentric position of the body of rotation, and a controlled parameter computing section 12 for computing the controlled parameters needed for the damping section 3 and the control section 4 respectively. Each of the controlled parameters for the damping section 3 and the control section 4 is set to the value corresponding to a change signal of the tool on the basis of the output of the computing section 12.
