PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYMER-LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOSITE

PURPOSE: Provided is a polymer-liquid crystal composite produced by dispersing liquid crystal in polymer, from which liquid crystal display elements having high reliability, low driving voltage, and fast response velocity can be obtained. CONSTITUTION: The polymer-liquid crystal composite is produced by a process comprising the steps of: mixing a liquid crystal mixture and a polymer composition containing a solvent-soluble polymer selected from the group consisting of poly diisopropyl fumalate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride or a water-soluble polymer such as a polyvinyl alcohol; coating the mixture on a transparent conductive plate such as indium tin oxide(ITO) glass and then volatilizing solvent to make polymer network; phase-separating a UV curing resin or a thermosetting resin by ultraviolet rays or heat to make liquid crystal droplet or polymer three-dimensional network.
