PURPOSE:To provide the extracting method which can extract a blank area optimum for fitting an original. CONSTITUTION:The image of the original is binarized (2-4), the binarized original is divided into unit areas in a prescribed size (2-6), graphic picture elements in the respective unit areas are counted (2-9), the continuous unit areas having the number of graphic picture elements less than a prescribed value are defined as the candidates of the blank area (2-10) and among maximum horizontal rectangles circumscribed to the candidates of this blank area, the horizontal rectangle having the maximum long side is defined as the blank area. |
