CERIUM SILICATE AS A LIGHT-EMITTING MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided are cerium silicate as a light-emitting material which emits light in the ultraviolet range to the blue light range and a process for producing the same for giving optical and structural changes to the material. CONSTITUTION: The cerium silicate as a light emitting material is produced by the steps of: depositing the cerium oxides on a silicon substrate or depositing the cerium oxides with silicon on a silicon or sapphire substrate or depositing silicon oxides on the silicon or sapphire substrate and depositing the cerium oxides on the silicon oxides; heat-treating at a fixed temperature to form the cerium silicate crystal structure. The cerium silicate as a light emitting material has the wavelength of 400-358nm and the cerium silicate is Ce4.667(SiO4)3O or Ce2Si2O7.
