PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply exact information to a user in an information distribution system for distributing contents data. SOLUTION: A transmitter 102 multiplexes and transmits a plurality of data in media forms. A receiver 1011 receives the multiplexed data in a receiving part 401 and performs processing for demultiplexing in a decoding part 402. A contents selecting part 404 selects data in media form determined, on the basis of the remaining capacity of a contents storage part 405 detected by a storage capacity detecting part 406 and profile information inputted via a profile operating part 407 by the user out of data supplied from the decoding part 402. The selected data are stored in the contents storage part 405. The profile information expresses the level of importance for the user concerning the category of contents. A communication control part 403 receives the data in media form related to the selecting processing via a bidirectional network 105 and supplies them to the contents storage part 405.
