PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of the failure of a light source and to restrain exposure nonuniformily in an exposure device for reading used in a radiograph detector for detecting a radiograph where radiograph information is previously recorded as an electrostatic latent image. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a light source 101 consisting of a plurality of LED chips 101a, 101b,... linearly arranged in the Z-axis direction, a first optical means 106 for improving the quality of light emitted from the light source 101 and consisting of a slit 102 and cylindrical lenses 104 and 105 for focusing the light toward the aperture 102a of the slit 102, and a second optical means 109 consisting of cylindrical lenses 107 and 108 for focusing the light passing through the optical means 106 onto the surface of the image detector in an orthogonal direction of the longitudinal direction of the light source 101. By focusing the light outputted from the individual LED chips 101a, 101b,... in the orthogonal direction of the longitudinal direction of the light source and radiating it to the detector without focusing it in the longitudinal direction of the light source, a plurality of pixels are simultaneously exposed with the light from individual light emitting points.
