The rapid sweep voltage ramp generator has a chain of bipolar avalanche transistors (T1-T8,T11-T18). The transmitter and base of each transistor are connected between the collector following in the chain and earth. There is an assembly of N+1 feed elements followed by zener diodes (D1-D9) in series across a high voltage line (HT) and earth. The collector and emitter of each transistor are connected to a zener diode and to a resistance (R1-R9;R11-R19) and capacitor (C1-C9;C11-C19).
