PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable data communication between, for example, personal computers and remote operation of, for example, a television receiver by using one infrared-light emitting diode 14 and to eliminate the need for a user to pay special attention to the switching of a driver 13 by making a CPU 1 to automatically control the driver 13. SOLUTION: A level converting circuit 11 converts transmit data to a specific level. A converter 12 imposes FSK modulation on a carrier by using the level- converted transmit data. A CPU 1 selects the modulated signal from a modulator 12 in data communication mode, sends remote control data out as transmit data in remote control data sending-out mode, and also controls the driver 13 so that the remote control data are selected. The driver 13 amplifies the selected modulated signal or remote control data to drive the infrared-light emitting diode 14. |
