REFRACTIVE INDEX MATCHING AGENT, STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF CONNECTING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE PARTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractive index matching agent with which optical waveguide parts are oppositely arranged constantly with a prescribed interval within 10μm mutually, in mechanically connecting these parts with each other, and also to provide a structure and a method of connecting these parts using the index matching agent. SOLUTION: The index matching agent is interposed between the optical waveguide parts 10a which have a core and a clad and which are arranged oppositely facing each other, is used for optical butt connection between the cores, and is added with particles having essentially the same refractive index as the core and having an average grain size of 1-10μm. The structure 1 and the method of connecting the optical waveguide parts are provided.
