PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent faulty transfer and faulty image quality from being caused with the retransfer of toner. SOLUTION: This image forming device is equipped with a transfer means 5 arranged in contact with an image carrier 1 and transferring a toner image T formed on the image carrier 1 to a recording and feeding belt 4 circularly fed at a part opposed to the image carrier 1 directly or through recording material K. The transfer means 5 is equipped with a contact transfer member 6 arranged in contact with the back surface of the belt 4 corresponding to a contact area N where the image carrier 1 contacts the belt 4, and a transfer voltage applying means 7 applying the transfer voltage to the member 6. Then, the image forming device is equipped with an electrode member 8 arranged in contact with the back surface of the belt 4 on an upstream side from the starting edge S of the area N and a discharge voltage applying means 9 applying voltage having the same polarity as the transfer voltage and causing discharge between the image carrier 1 and the belt 4 on the upstream side from the edge S of the area N to the member 8.
