PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of securing the cooling effect of a lamp at the time of lighting and also preventing the broken pieces of the lamp from being scattered to the outside of a casing when the lamp is damaged with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This light source device is provided with the lamp 1 and reflection mirrors 10 and 11 for guiding light from the lamp to a specified direction in the easing, and also vent holes 2 and 3 for making air for cooling the lamp 1 and the mirrors 10 and 11 circulate in the easing 1. The device is provided with a shielding member 15 arranged at a position separate from the hole 3 at an ordinary time and moved to a position where it closes the hole 3 when the lamp is broken in the easing 1.
